A Decent Proposal

So, I’ve really been having a lot of fun with this project, and in some ways, would be happy to let it go on forever, collecting proposal ideas until my hair is gray. However, The reality is, that although this is FUN it is also a SERIOUS endeavor. I’m trying to learn about what people think of the spectacle of proposing; how intimate, emotional situations can be like transactions; and how relationships  are shaped by a technologically saturated life.  AND, I would like to meet someone and make my own try of potentially permanent couplehood. At some point.

So, the deadline to submit a proposal to propose is DECEMBER 1, 2009.

At that point, I will choose the three or five best contenders (depending on how many total I have to choose from), collaborate with them to make a piece of art with/about their proposal idea, and then offer one of them the opportunity to actually propose marriage.

By December 31, 2009, I will be applying for an artist project called Get Hubbied, in which a group of artists in southern California plan and implement the wedding of our dreams. The exciting thing is that if selected, we will be married in a beautiful location, in whatever way we like, AND will get to have a collection of artist’s works as our wedding ephemera. See, I know. That sounds so great, you are thinking of your proposal idea to sweep me off my feet even as you’re reading this.
